When we speak about ‘Welfare Service’, we should not think that it is the Government’s responsibility alone. Welfare Service is the responsibility of every citizen of the country. All of us know that ‘service to man is service to God’;
There are only a limited number of Government Welfare Homes being operated in our country. They are not sufficient to cater for the ever growing need of welfare services. Thus, this has given rise to sprouting of many Non-Government Organizations (NGO’S) operated by individuals and associations. These NGO’s offer several useful services to the destitute without any discretion to religion, cast or creed. Therefore, it is important that the Government to come forward to assist and help them. This is because many of them operate only with donations from the public.
Most of the Old Folks in our Homes have been sent from Government Hospitals. Due to broken families and social ills many children end up as destitute, being unable to go to school. It is NGO’s like us who have helped and saved many of them from being exploited by unscrupulous adults. Please reflect for a moment on the situation as to what would have become of them otherwise.
Yes! The crime rate would have increased in this country. No one can refuse or deny the fact that it is because of the existence and activities of these homes that they have been contained to a minimum. It has statistically been proven that it is these affected children who have become large scale misfits and criminals in society.
